We are often asked by clients if they would be better off with a patio or decking area. There is no right or wrong answer here it depends on a few things and factors, location, tastes, budget and lifestyle needs. Here are some factors to consider and some pros and cons to each.

If your house suits both paving and decking styles then your next question should be, what style of garden are you trying to create.
Paving
If you want lots of detail and interesting features then paving will be better choice for you, its much easier to create patterns and different textures with paving than with decking.
Decking
If you like lean lines and the minimalist look, then decking is great for this. The minimalist look can ne achieved with one size of paving but as the slabs would be shorter than deck boards it will always look fussier than decking.
